Kyaw Moe Khaing (AKA: BART)

Kyaw Moe Khaing (AKA: BART) was born in 1996 in Yangon, Burma.

Tempted by the tags and bubble letters painted on the streets of Yangon, he began to play and experiment with spray cans in the 8th grade. He gave himself the name “Bart” after the character in the TV series The Simpsons, clearly alluded to his desire to rebel. Inspired by Pop Surrealism and Lowbrow art movement along with popular cultural aspects like comics, Bart’s expressions in graffiti writing are a mix of text and image, juxtaposing Burma and imported cultural norms. He took part in –
