Thi Mar Win

Thi Mar Win was born on 5th June 1982 in Shwebo, Sagaing Region of Upper Burma. She is the eldest daughter of U Cho Tu and Daw San Htay. She graduated from Yezin Agricultrual University in 2005 with the specialization of Agriculture Economics. She received her Master Degree in Agriculture and Resource Economics from Kyushu University in Japan in 2015.

She has been working for various civil organizations and NGOs as a freelance researcher and Agri-Business Consultant and now working at Advanced Consulting Company as an Agri-business and Value Chain Advisor for two Vegetable Market Development Projects in Burma.

In the early 2000s, as a student at Yezin Agriculture University, she started writing poems, essays and short stories for campus magazines, pamphlets and wall newspapers under a penname. Her poems were shared only among intimate friends until the release of her 2003 campus chapbook Exhibition of the Pains of Winter Birds.

‘Nutrition Index with the Promise of Hunger’ was her first poem featured in Tharapu Magazine (September 2013) and her poems have been sporadically seen in Burmese magazines and some poetry anthologies.

Some of her poems were also published in Eleven Eleven Magazine and Poetry International Web. Her poetry collections are as follows:
